Stepha Schweiger

Stepha Schweiger, avant-garde composer, singer/songwriter/pianist, producer, director, has contributed to experimental music, interdisciplinary music-theatre and indie-rock on the German and international scene. She mainly works across genres and constructs methods for sustainable music based on natural tuning and her former exchange with <a href="spotify:artist:5JY8XqLXMgdLf3JDcPjWMn" data-name="Horaţiu Rădulescu">Horaţiu Rădulescu</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0VelZYNiFVkSlRrLP2w9G8" data-name="Helmut Lachenmann">Helmut Lachenmann</a> and others. In 2022 <a href="spotify:artist:3OlDO7QJK55B8pVqLABi5Q" data-name="The Moon Is No Door">The Moon Is No Door</a>, her psychedelic band, released their debut on L&#39;ST records, mixed by <a href="spotify:artist:1gvlyHhMgWmJSei85ArqM9" data-name="Dirk Dresselhaus">Dirk Dresselhaus</a> (aka <a href="spotify:artist:3z9ViU2XA9UggOyGCkuCuW" data-name="Schneider TM">Schneider TM</a>). Further releases with lyrics by Katherine Mansfield are the solo albums &#34;Now I&#39;m a Plant&#34;, produced by <a href="spotify:artist:2cqhNitHQVOasStjBSfTZ7" data-name="Hanno Leichtmann">Hanno Leichtmann</a>, &#34;When I was a Bird&#34;, produced by <a href="spotify:artist:2EwMOPZ6JhWiXQ1IdsG9lo" data-name="Pyrolator">Pyrolator</a>, and the &#34;Floryan nachdenklich remix” by <a href="spotify:artist:23QKqAkKwti9zBiac6RFBA" data-name="Jlin">Jlin</a>. The revised version of the original 6-channel work &#34;ver.blich&#34; (2001, IRCAM) for the IKOSAEDER of the IEM Graz was premiered at musikprotokoll in Steirischer Herbst 2018. The 100-minute immersive music-theatre &#34;The Mark on the Wall&#34;, based on Virginia Woolf, was shown 2017-2019 in London and at several theatres in Berlin. Stepha Schweiger’s music is inspired by Cage, Feldman, Radigue, among others. The roots of her career go back to the 1980s: she was a founding member of the indie band Baby You Know and co-composed their first vinyl, released on SubUp Records, today digitally re-released on Tapete Records. From 1990 she immersed herself in composing new music and recorded the solo debut &#34;Sp19ri9ng one&#34; in New York, released on music cassette in 1992.
