My name is Stephen. I hail from the heart of Canada, Prince George. My love affair with Eighties music began in childhood, soaking in the beats of Depeche Mode, the vibes of OMD, and the futuristic charisma of Gary Numan. This music inspired me to write my first song, "Under The Moonlight," at just 14 years old on a Casio.
After navigating through a string of Mcjobs, I eventually pursued my passion, graduating from Emily Carr Art University. Film or music? The latter won, and in 2009, I dived into the world of full-time musicianship with my duo, Trike. Fast forward to 2013, and I embarked on a solo journey, hitting viral fame with "EKSF."
My musical voyage has been nothing short of a thrilling ride, featuring releases like "People Tonight" (LP), "Single and 17" (EP), and "Synthpop is Dead" (LP) – a vinyl adventure. Europe became a stage for my sonic explorations, but here we are in 2024, where I'm unleashing a waterfall of singles while crafting my upcoming double album.
The latest chapter includes "Craving My Affection," "Ghost Town," and my upcoming single, "Kickin The Habit," produced by the incredible German wunderkind dontaskalex. This particular track delves into the theme of addiction, a journey I personally navigated during the pandemic. I've emerged stronger, now able to reflect on the dangers of letting addiction take control. The song's construction draws inspiration from the incredible sound designer Venus Theory and the poignant work of Elliot Smith.
