Early in the writing process for this album, I sent some rough demos to a trusted friend and songwriter, looking for some feedback, maybe wondering if I should just let the whole thing go. He wrote back, “Summer’s End is reflective and melancholy, woodsy and mellow, like the dappled sunlight on the path you might walk to the creek for that one last swim.” That was inspiration enough to keep working. But still, this album wouldn’t have made it without the creative talents and generous hearts of the musicians and friends you see credited here. I don’t know if they realized it, but they were doing more than making music, they were nurturing a vision and bringing it to life. They can’t be thanked enough.
