STEVE SLEDGE has been playing guitar since he was 13.
His musical influences range from the Beatles to Brit pop to Italian opera. Steve was particularly enthusiastic about country music from Nashville.
Sledge has played in various Hamburg bands since the early 1980s and has appeared in the best clubs in the city, such as the LOGO, Uncle Pö and Remter.
In 2004 he took singing lessons and began to write his own songs, which he also produced in his own studio.
Due to his love for country music, Steve traveled to Nashville for the first time in 2007, met various songwriters and producers there, also got to know 5-time Grammy-nominated producer David Norris, and took part in many studio sessions.
This resulted in a continued collaboration with various US musicians and songwriters with whom Steve has now written more than 50 songs worth listening to.
His song “CLOSER TO FOREVER” even became the song of the week for young talent on NDR2 in 2007
In 2019 Steve Sledge started working with the Hamburg music publisher STRINGKILLER MUSIC, which will publish and promote songs from Steve’s complex repertoire through its in-tune Records label.
The wonderfully melodic and catchy pop song "I CAN BE A FREE BIRD", published jointly by Steve Sledge and the American songwriter Robert De Priest, has been released in October 2020.
