Sthøy consists of the Norwegian brothers Herman and Henry Solstrand. The band plays something that best could be described as fuzz-pop or stoner-punk, while drawing inspiration from grunge, shoegaze, noise-rock, indie and emo.

The band started as a home project by the Solstrand brothers in 2013. By the end of 2014 they decided to make the project into a full live band, and they were joined by drummer Trym Eide.

In 2015 the band played their first concerts and went in the studio to record their self-titled debut album Sthøy, which was released on Hoppla Hesten in January 2017.

After playing a couple of shows following the release of their album, the band took a break, focusing on work and studies. During this hiatus Henry and Herman both started their own separate projects, that later turned into the bands Ed, Edd Og Eddy and Turtlenecktie.

With the urge to revive Sthøy and release songs they had been sitting on for years, Herman and Henry recorded five songs during Easter 2020, to be released as the EP Atrophy later in 2020, taking the band back to its roots as a collaboration between the two brothers, mainly existing as a studio project.
