Stinging Ray

Liu Rui aka.Stinging «Singing» Ray is a musician who came out of the Beijing hip-hop event «SECTION6» and is also one of the founders of the famous Beijing rap label «Dungeon Beijing». He is one of the few young people who pursue a "traditional" approach to life and music. In his hip-hop works, he likes to record every moment of life with the help of darker beats, and he is good at using clever puns in his lyrics to give each song a different sensory perspective. Over the years, he became an avid Reggae singer and DJ. He is also co-founder and one of the director at ChinaMan Yard (formerly DB Bros Records), China's first reggae record label and distribution company dedicated to Reggae Music based in Beijing. Since 2018, he and his friends have been hosting regular reggae parties at different clubs in Beijing every month. In February they are also responsible for the Jamaican Embassy's designated event, "Bob Marley Day". His plan is to collaborate with the legends of reggae history on what he calls a true Chinese reggae album, and is currently recording a single with the legendary Jamaican band "Roots Radics" amongst other upcoming tracks with Jamaican Reggae legends. He believes that every song is a chapter and every album is a book, and that it is the responsibility of the musician to convey the correct view of the person, so he is still working hard to find out how to elaborate a more sincere musical concept.
