Stipplicon was a NYC indie-rock band started in 1999 by singer and songwriter Jack Dishel. He released two full length LP’s under that name: “Stipplicon” (1999) and “The Late Great Truth” (2001).
The band featured a revolving cast of members, including Jack’s future Moldy Peaches bandmates Brent “Strictly Beats” Cole and Steven Mertens.
Although they were tied to the mainly acoustic Antifolk scene of the Sidewalk Cafe, their harder electric sound and raucous live shows led them to the rock clubs of early 2000’s downtown NYC.
In 2002, their song “Stamp Your Name On It” was featured on the Antifolk Volume 1 compilation (Rough Trade) and in 2003, the band played its final show.
In 2006, Jack began releasing records under the name Only Son, which continues to this day. Numerous Stipplicon songs were re-recorded for the first two Only Son albums, including “Sleepyface”, “True”, “Falling Behind In The Game” and “Stamp Your Name On It”.
