Atlanta's Stranded (David Mansfield) is a corroded, bleary web of synths and processed guitars which sound romantic, haunting and grandiose - a space to get lost in, to find our own other worlds in.
Produced and mixed by Vacant Lots’ Jared Artaud, “Burnt Offerings" was inspired by the grooves of Sandinista era Clash, but taken to a more atmospheric place. As ever, the Georgian landscape provides the setting for Mansfield’s writing — twilit, at the foot of the Appalachians, old land as the crossroads for Mansfield’s past and present. He once described that intersection, the peculiar result of a Southern boy dreaming of England, as “pastoral post-punk.” Whatever you want to call it, Mansfield has realized his sound in a whole new way on the forthcoming album Velvet Trace (fall of 2023). He went back to where it started, and became who he was always meant to be.
