Stray Familiar is just us—Sped and Gabs—making music when we feel like it.
We met in 2011 and have been together ever since. In 2025, we wrote Aubrey—the first song from our “Decades” project—part of a YouTube series where we create songs inspired by different decades.
We wanted to create something that felt vintage and a little bit mischievous with lyrical storytelling and cheeky guitar licks for an all out 60s vibe.
If you came round to our house, you'd know we pretty much live in a vintage pop and classic rock mixtape—our biggest influences being Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, and (one of our only contemporary inspirations) The National.
