Currently residing in the English Countryside, and now a world away from her Bahraini roots, Dana originally crossed paths with multi-instrumentalist Oliver in North London’s thriving live scene. Oliver had recently parted ways with former Rough Trade signing The Veils.
Previously gaining acclaim for their debut and sophomore LP's, with support from BBC 6's Lauren Laverne; "A fantastic record, I highly recommend it" and Clash Magazine describing their Wild Medicine LP as "a fine example of the artistry that makes Straylings so beguiling.. a beautiful, resolutely independent offering, one that could only come from Straylings".
Distinctively recognisable, Middle-Eastern influences and storylines are brought to bear by Dana, combined with the layered arrangements of guitarist/producer Oliver. Straylings now return with new LP 'Call Back Your Name', encompassing themes of isolation, integrity, loss, and the notion of re-orienting oneself in uncertain times. Reverb soaked guitars, shimmering acoustics & synths form a psychedelic wrap from which Zeera's enigmatic vocal floats spectrally. A sound which draws to mind Fairport Convention, Pink Floyd and conjures the folk infused spirit of Mazzy Star.
