Following his 2007 exit from the post-metal outfit <a href="spotify:artist:74Lk7WdgkYm19XoHvEsr5F">Mouth of the Architect</a>, Columbus, Ohio-based vocalist/guitarist Gregory Lahm decided to return to his more straightforward punk and hardcore roots with his next band, Struck by Lightning. And, although he didn't entirely abandon all of the instrumental intricacies and judiciously sporadic melodicism of his previous project, Lahm, along with fellow bandmembers Mike Leach (guitar), John Peters (bass), and <a href="spotify:artist:2jP7X51NmkR9r8mt1iLccJ">Travis Kline</a> (drums), drew most of their inspiration from crustcore mainstays like <a href="spotify:artist:2rYMvTD6SxQHgOXhVUdTRc">Disfear</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2gyZHlI5HIDctuCa2Crm2I">His Hero Is Gone</a> for their debut album, Serpents, released in 2009 by Translation Loss Records. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
