Strung Like a Horse is known for their signature brand of Americana and indie rock, distilled from old-school storytelling, roots instrumentations, and alt-rock edge. The band’s authenticity, high energy, and great fondness for a good time have made their live shows a cult favorite.
The first studio album, WHOA!, was produced by multi-Grammy-winner Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, John Prine, Iron & Wine) at the Sound Emporium in Nashville, and released on Transoceanic Records. Most of the tracks were laid down with the band playing together in one pass and sent direct to tape, making it a “record that captures the vibe of their rightfully celebrated live shows perfectly.”
WHOA! debuted at #2 on the Billboard Chart for Bluegrass Albums; and made #1 on Amazon New Releases, #1 on Amazon Alt-Country/Americana Chart, Top 5 Most Added and 16 consecutive weeks on the Top 40 AMA/CDX Americana Radio Chart, Top 40 on CDX Americana Singles Chart and Billboard BDS Triple A Radio Indicator Chart, #4 on Alt-Country Specialty Chart, #7 on Bluegrass Today’s Grassicana Chart, and #2 on RMR Alternative Folk Chart, “Top 100 Americana Radio Airplay Albums,” “Top 20 Alternative Folk Albums,” No Depression’s “Best Roots Music Albums.”
Recorded at Morningstar Studios in Philadelphia, SLAH’s second studio album, Dirt, is out August 30, with lead single, “Find Your Way Home.”
