Stu Pender, Chicago-born composer, producer and sonic artist, weaves elements of improvisation, minimalism, and songwriting into orchestrations for the guitar, voice, and laptop.
A founding member of the hip-hop collective Poetic Thrust, Stu has also worked various roles in the studio with artists Topaz Jones, Carlos Niño and Laraaji. Sharing the stage with artists Allison Ponthier, Photay, Elijah Wolf and Maggie Rogers, he's showcased his talents as a guitarist across the United States and Canada, at The MoMA PS1, United Nations, The Fillmore, The Beacon Theatre, and many more.
Stu’s debut solo album, Stillness In Motion, released in 2021 on the Youngbloods label, explores the delicate balance between slowing down and maintaining a sense of urgency towards action, earning acclaim from Los Angeles’ KCRW and Apple Music.
He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
