Some might say that punk never died. Here in the 21st century, Mohawks, torn clothes, altercore, and leather jacket don't represent the rebellion, indignation and crave for freedom usually related to this ideology, nor do they affront authorities or create panic any more. Nonetheless the same problems, once expressed, still haunt all subalterns that are part of a rotten and corrupt regime that governs only for itself.
Subalternos has started working, early in 2014, with the idea of bringing the punk essence back to life through a linear and well arranged sound. Tight rhythmic session, strong riffs and a straightforward vocalist shape the band’s compositions.
In September 2017, the first album “NUNCA PARE DE LUTAR” (never stop fighting) was released by The Film Records, Rotten Records and Skin Collector, and in December of the same year, the first official clip of the song “AOS VERDADEIROS” came out.
Despite of having the genuine English punk from 1977 as its main influence, Subalternos has a strong connection to São Paulo’s underground music scene, embracing influences from acclaimed to garage bands that represented their generation.
Lyrics of manifest and attitude define the band’s identity, telling all subalterns that the change can be real and it resides within.
