Subplots new album A Silent Phase combines a rich and varied approach to both production and instrumentation. Woodwind and horn arrangements, rare vintage synthesizers and inventive approaches to time signatures and rhythms coalesce to push the band in to new creative territory. The follow up to 2015’s critically acclaimed LP Autumning, the album was recorded between Ireland, The Netherlands and Canada.
“Fast seizing hold of their own territory, Subplots are changing into something quite remarkable indeed.” - Clash Magazine, 2018
Subplots music has often been noted for its collage-like quality. They create music that 'unfurls rather than explodes' (Irish Independent). The trio have released two albums, critically acclaimed in their homeland. Their last album ‘Autumning’ won fans further afield - with US tastemakers Stereogum likening the band to a cross between The National, Radiohead and The Twilight Sad, "and you'd do well to venture in to that zone." (Stereogum). The band has shared stages with the likes of Luke Abbott, Foals, No Age and Glass Animals.
