After fronting the seminal Brit-pop duo of <a href="spotify:artist:4wWQkHhmUNlXvhbHRUSqZW">the Vaselines</a> for a number of years, guitarist <a href="spotify:artist:2GTpyrlXJS3NKeV41Ngbso">Frances McKee</a> moved on in 1997 to start Suckle. Along with co-founder/vocalist Marie McKee, the complete lineup of Vicky Morton (bass), Elanor Taylor (flute/keyboards), Kenny McEwan (drums), and Brian McEwan (guitar) settled in later that year before the release of their self-titled debut EP. As they brought on a harmony of melancholy indie pop to their native of Scotland, Detox Records followed their first 7" with the Hormonal Secretions EP that same year.
