A multi award winning singer and leading disciple of legendary late Vidushi Lakshmi Shankar and Vidushi Purnima Choudhuri, Sudakshina started singing from the early age of 9.
Being talented not only in music but academics as well, Sudakshina continued to pursue music and graduate studies in Biological Sciences with same dedication and enthusiasm.
She has meticulously honed and created a unique singing style that combines the tonal perfection and melodious nature of Patiala Gharana and the rustic and emotional singing of Banaras gharana. Sudakshina is equally versed in singing pure classical as well as thumri, dadra, ghazal, kajri, chaiti that are rich in romantic essence, and bhajans that are rich in devotional qualities and evoke a deep spirituality in the listener.
Sudakshina's performances have spanned beyond the US to India, Europe and Canada not only as a traditional Indian vocalist but also as an artist who can effortlessly blend traditional music with experimental jazz, classical and modern pop.
Along with being an accomplished vocalist and an academician, Sudakshina is also actively involved with Charity work. She currently manages a Southern California based nonprofit dedicated to promoting classical music and a Charitable Trust dedicated to supporting multiple humanitarian causes.
