Barbadian-based singer/songwriter SugahRhe is best known for her chanting in the genre of bashment soca. With her flowing lyrics and sweet-sounding voice, she has listeners wanting more, whether it’s a lover’s rock reggae tune, sweet soca track or cover of a great hit.
From the impressionable age of 6, she was exposed to Calypso music by her father Joel “Willo” Williams, which began her love affair with music.
In 2017, an original sweet soca piece titled “De Motion” got SugahRhe to the semi-finals of Machel Montano’s Music Academy. Also in 2017, she landed semi-finalist in the Bashment Soca finals with “Bare Trouble”, a collaboration with Coopa Dan.
In the following years, SugahRhe maintained her status and made it to the finals of the International Bashment Soca competition in 2018 with “Bounce” and in 2019 with “Press My Buttons”. Also in 2019, SugahRhe was a Soca Monarch (Barbados) semi-finalist with “Sugah.”
SugahRhe continues to evolve and further develop her unique sound with notes of zouk and other indigenous sounds of Barbados and the region. As a songwriter she continues to develop her ability in penning a variety of genres.
