Sugar Addikt is "Neon-hued with a nod towards psychedelic terrain" (Beach sloth). Compared to Sia, Eurythmics and Depeche Mode, Sugar Addikt is therapy draped in electronica. Not one to back down from difficult conversations, lead writer and vocalist Vanessa Littrell tackles mental health, relationships and survival, all while cultivating a fresh EDM vibe.
In her debut release, Phoenix, written with son and producer, Bowman Littrell (aka Master Volume), Sugar Addikt juxtapositions propulsive dance pop with heart felt lyrics and ideology. What began as a collection of bouncy sugar pop beats became a rising from the ashes as reflected in songs “Change It” “Shackles” and “New Dawn."
Taking a somber turn, Sugar Addikt's second EP, Chasing Orbits, grieves the loss of Bowman, who died in 2020. To navigate this difficult process, Sugar Addikt enlisted help from masterful engineer and producer Mario Inchausti. Featuring moderate escapism into sci-fi, Chasing Orbits is an electro pop opera of despair and discovery. "B2E" "LMBT1" and "8Ball" conjur sentiments of life after loss from the perspective of Major Tom's wife. As the wife of the iconic Space Oddity astronaut, "she knows."
