Grabbing the guitar, or sitting down at the piano. And then record rudimentary songs. Back to basics. Or pure songwriting, averse to genres.
With Sugarbunny, Hannah Vandenbussche and Mirko Banovic started a new musical adventure some time ago. She saw in him the musical bassist and a perfect match to write songs with, he has long been a fan of the character of her voice and live performance with Rumours.
Together, they create a sound that sticks like glue. It's melancholic, raw and a bit naive. Three facets they look for in music. The blues, but not the genre. The blues as in: something that touches you.
Sugarbunny first comes out with the hypnotic "Sun", a dreamy, melancholic gem about allowing (new) love, in which Sugarbunny also shows a sweet side.
Together with Joris Casier and Jasper Morel, Hannah and Mirko formed a full band with musicians from diverse backgrounds. Again, their own sound prevails, which is less is more, averse to genre boxes. Live, Sugarbunny will be a band in which everyone shows a different side.
Sugarbunny is currently working on a first EP to be released after the summer.
