Through energetic and playful productions, Summer Fry writes her way out of an identity crisis and closer to freedom with her new ear worm, Can't Buy Me Love.
Can't Buy Me Love pulls us into a dream that the career explodes and the world is open.
Reflections on freedom are essential in Summer Fry's universe, which has become an autonomous breeding ground for music that calls for community and liberation; at euphoric and transcendent concerts. Summer Fry is a sanctuary that took shape in the wake of a wrenching and formative year with a series of Ayahusaca ceremonies that resulted in breakup with her partner, hometown and majorlabel deal. And not least a breakup with self-destructive behavior.
“Ayahuasca pushed me over an edge I never dared approaching. I couldn't stand myself, let alone feel myself, so I numbed myself with alcohol and drugs and it escalated to the point where I knew it would kill me if I didn't do something. Suddenly I found myself in a Swedish forest on jungle medicine. It saved my life. And it changed my relationship with myself and music. I'm coming from the most confident and authentic place I've ever written music from."
You can feel the authenticity in the multi-talent's songs and productions, which invokes the energy of artists like Highasakite and Robyn, but Summer Fry has her own unique sound, which she has chosen to name freedom pop.
Summer Fry debuted in autumn '22 with 'We Do It For Love', which went straight into rotation on DR P6 Beat.
