Sun Cycles

Sun Cycles is the musical brainchild and latest project from Omaha native Jessica Hottman. Steeped in deep synth, big drums, and soaring vocals - the act pulls inspiration from artists like Imogen Heap, Caroline Polachek, and Yaz.


"I was listening to the song "Days" by The Drums, and it dawned on me that so much happens, from the most menial thing to the greatest discovery, as our planet cycles the sun. I like to think of my music as just a piece of all the beauty that our world is creating: a thread in the quilt that humanity is weaving. To me, this is a humbling and beautiful thought. And with that, the name Sun Cycles was born."


Sun Cycles' debut single "KIDS" landed premieres on Ghettoblaster Magazine, Week in Pop, and Rearview Mirror (AUS). Her second single “BANG BANG” premiered on ChorusFM, and she finished out 2019 with the release of her third single “RODEO” and an east coast tour.


Sun Cycles kicked off 2020 with a brand new single titled “INTO CONFUSION.” She landed premieres on both Audiofemme and Our Culture Mag with this dark-pop-synth-heavy track. Sun Cycles kept the momentum going, dropping a retro-looking dance video to accompany her song “MAKE BELIEVE.” Both of these releases previewed her “IMAGINARY” EP, which was made available on all platforms in September 2020. This EP explores the blurred lines between reality and the imaginary world in our minds.
