Sunlotus

Transforming heavy emotional anxiety into subconscious experiences is the reason behind the formation of the band Sunlotus, Heavy-Shoegaze from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A handful of young individuals in this group are experimenting with alternative music, termed "Heavy-Shoegaze," through a fusion of various genres such as rock, grunge, drone and ambience. The "Heavy" essence is drawn from the play of distorted sounds with thick and heavy characteristics, which are then harmonized with dreamy ambience melodies. This composition seems to guide listeners who carry anxiety, distress, and heavy life burdens towards a state of tranquility, floating amidst the harmonious dreamy-ambience tunes.

Formed in 2018, the band consisted of Made Dharma (guitarist/vocalist), Dzul Fawaid (guitarist), Sinergy Aditya (bassist), and Bagus Putra Pratama (drummer) where they all previously played in more harder acts, such as grindcore, screamo, punk, hardcore, drone, thus solidifying and shaping the broader current sound of the band. The band has consistently made several releases since they formed, This Old House (2019), Split Feelings EP (2022), Fever EP (2023), several more singles, and got featured in some global compilations throughout the years. The band is also known for doing consecutive touring throughout the local region and neighboring countries in South East Asia, achieving several cult followings along their journey.
