SUSAN X´s debut single BREATHING sounds like a pause to catch your breath, and ultimately it gives us so much more: warm, comforting chords and softly rising beats lead us straight into a chorus that ascends to heaven and liberates all our senses. You can clearly hear that there is more to the smooth, yet powerful vocals than just technical ability. “Almost all my songs are biographical, they are my stories. BREATHING is all about letting go – of a person that you love deeply but who is not good for you.” The relationship she is talking about ended a few years ago, but the subject matter is still present. When you leave one city for another, when you jump in at the deep end – when you are true to yourself, no matter what others might say. When you choose your own path and walk that path.

It doesn’t really matter whether we regard SUSAN X as an experienced, powerful singer or a fragile artist. Strong, sensitive and sometimes a little too self-critical, she organises her own career and wraps her songs in smart, radiant dance-pop with lyrics that deal with love, doubt, resolve and joie de vivre. “In my music, I would like to share my life experiences, which haven’t always been plain sailing, and to empower people and let them know they are not alone. Maybe my songs can also offer a brief moment of respite when life gets too crazy.”

BREATHING is the first taste of SUSAN X´s debut EP, which is due this autumn.
