Inspired by Thai music from the 1960s to 1980s, SUTHEP BAND blends Eastern-flavored melodies with modern Western sounds. Lead vocalist and songwriter Cha, influenced by his family’s musical heritage, creates lyrics with a nostalgic edge. Alongside Beau (Guitar), Non (Bass), and Garn (Drums), the band fuses retro Thai melodies with Rock, Nu-Metal, Math Rock, and Funk, creating a unique, timeless style.
SUTHEP BAND started in 2018 when Cha and university friends reunited to release Greatest Hits, featuring Stardusts, a track later used in the film Low Season. In 2020, Garn joined on drums, and the band hosted a major concert in Chiang Mai, also paying tribute to local legend Jarun Manopetch with a full ensemble of saxophones, percussion, and vocalists.
In 2021-2022, SUTHEP BAND expanded to eight members, adding Ple (Percussion), Aek (Tenor Sax), Jack (Alto Sax), and Khem (Keyboard). After Aek’s sudden passing in 2023, his close friend Ae, a trombonist, joined to keep the group’s spirit alive. They recently released Thank You as a tribute to their shared journey.
Today, SUTHEP BAND continues performing across Chiang Mai and beyond, blending Thai heritage with a contemporary sound as they release new music.
