Courageously authentic and possessing an artistic soul reminiscent of the icons which have shaped music today, Svetlana encompasses the spirit, lyrical ability and passion to create a unique legacy as a soul singer and songwriter.

Growing up in Feltham and with a natural gift with words, Svetlana was first recognised for her literary writing and academic pursuits. “I didn’t grow up with music being something I could pursue,” she says. “It was always books first and within that I found that I loved writing poetry and stories. It made me realise I could share my feelings through art rather than direct communication.”

Music only became a strong presence in Svetlana’s life when she entered college. “I came across a book called On the Road by Jack Kerouac in my college library. I kept seeing the names Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis and it made me want to make people feel, through music, the way these artists made Kerouac feel throughout his life.”

It was then that Svetlana taught herself how to play guitar and transcribed her life stories from poems into verses and choruses. Maybe it was this unconventional introduction to music that has shaped the elusive persona that Svetlana has today, as well as the powerful lyrics and soul tinged voice which she is well known for. Already called ‘the romantic rockstar’, there is a thrilling anticipation to see what Svetlana will bring to the music scene.
