Sw3aTy Sam

James Derrah also known by his artist name "Sw3aTy Sam" is a Canadian rap artist from Saint John, New Brunswick, who utilizes the sub-genres of rap, primarily emo rap, to convey themes of mental health, hardship, and relationships. However, Sam is known for switching things up, dabbling in alternative rap, intricate rhyme schemes, and flow patterns which altogether provide a unique contrast to other songs in his music catalogue. Recognized for his musical ability and creativity, Sam was supported with a significant investment for a music video project in 2021 by Music-Musique NB and the Government of New Brunswick's Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. In 2024, Sam was supported with a second investment from Music-Musique NB and the Government of New Brunswick for the purpose of marketing and promoting his sophomore album "Time Heals All Wounds".

Sw3aTy Sam opened for "Madchild", co-founder of the 4-time JUNO Award-winning Canadian hip hop group Swollen Members, in Saint John during both of Madchild's 2023 and 2024 Canadian tours. More recently, Sam made his debut appearance in Fredericton, New Brunswick opening for Swollen Members during their "Reunite Bury the Hatchet" Canadian tour in November 2024.

Sam's debut album "Dark World" was released in August 2020 which was followed up by his sophomore album titled "Time Heals All Wounds in 2024. Currently, he is an unsigned independent artist.
