SwanNek is a contemporary Jazz collective based in Newcastle upon Tyne led by Findlay Hewitson (keys). In 2020 Hewitson began to collaborate with longtime friends Jake Baines (bass), and Mollie Birmingham (vocals).
In 2022, they began a monthly residency at ‘Hoochie Coochie,’ rapidly growing a local fan base.
2023 saw new members Bailey Rudd (drums) and Jacob Egglestone (guitar; trumpet) join. Later that year, they headlined Newcastle Jazz Festival and released debut single ‘Lucid Dreams.’
Second single ‘Beautiful Sunday’ was released at the start of 2024, catalysing another year of broadening shows. Notably - BBC Proms, Kendal Calling, The Boiler Shop, and The Glasshouse.
At the beginning of 2025, the band received editorial recognition from the likes of Spotify and the BBC, and played at the MOBO awards. They are now preparing to release more music, alongside collaborating with artists internationally.
