Swede were formed in 2016 by friends Sam, James and Tom. The band released 4 songs whilst together, before disbanding in 2020.
At their best, Swede could be a formidable trio, with the pop hooks of Weezer and the punk energy of Nirvana - at their worst, an earnest group of teenagers trying to find some meaning in the confusing midst of adolescence.
From the somewhat bashful ‘Virus’ to self-assured ‘Caroline, I’m Ill’, the band’s sound grew up alongside its members. Despite only playing a small number of shows, Swede recorded many songs in demo form during their time together - most of which never seeing the light of day.
Although no longer playing music as Swede, the band’s members still remain on good terms. Sam currently releases music under ‘Souptheman’, and James plays drums in Nottingham-based ‘Car Crash Compilation’.
Swede would like to thank Jacob Elliott and Sandra Ribes, as well as anyone who listened to us or saw us play.
