Hailing from San Jose, California, Swells & the Lünatics seem rather to have arrived from the moon. Their spacious, dreamy sound is a concoction of rhythm guitarist and vocalist Austin Avila, lead guitarist Ryan Wall, bassist Mitchell Licata, drummer Krisitan Buenconsejo, and keyboardist John Lord. In October of 2018, the Lünatics joined to prepare for a local show. Since the formation of the group, the sound has evolved and widened into a marriage of buttery and drivey guitars, celestial synthesizers, rolling bass lines, and lively drums. The group touches many points on the genre scale, blurring the lines between Psychedelia, Surf Rock, RnB, Soul, Lo-fi Indie Rock, and Shoegazey noise. Swells & the Lünatics have released two singles early in April 2019 and released their debut album, Moonstruck in July 2019.
