I go by the name of Swizzy Max.
Why?
Allow me to break it down for you.
"Swizzy" is my self given nickname (originally my swedish first name: Sven)
combined with "Max" short for my family name - Maxilom.
To be honest to myself, I didn't like my cultural mix nor did I like the name that was given to me. I just wanted to be normal.
Let me explain:
Alongside 2 siblings, I was a multi mixed child born in the Philippines.
Sounds good, you say? Well..
There's more to it than what it sounds like.
Me and my family lived in a small province called Tuburan which is round about a 3 hour bus ride away from Cebu City.
Yes, I'm a proud Visayan! At least that's what my heart says..
Reality strikes me often though.
As a mixed person, it's either you're accepted or hated in any country.
It's not even a bad thing but more of a fact.
At least you're always the outlander to everyone.
Don't get me wrong though.
I am blessed to have been raised by a loving, God fearing family, indeed.
I learned a lot from all influences and environment around me and created my own self being.
I could go further but my main message is that I learned to embrace who I am and where I'm coming from as a Filipino, German, English mix.
History will also teach you that Filipinos come a long way, so that means I have way more mixture in my blood.
Here I am and my music is as multi-cultural as it can be. I invite you to come hate it or love it but at least take your time to vibe with me.
