Systemic Absence is an experimental metal band from West Lafayette, Indiana (USA). Through our music, we seek to address issues faced by humanity in these modern times.

Our debut single 'Terminal Deception' seeks to discuss the possibility of artificial intelligence (AI) becoming autonomous, and going beyond the realm of human control. An analysis of how digital technology was first conceived in an attempt to reduce human effort is made. A hypothesis that AI may turn out to be a myopic escapade that leads humanity down a perilous path is explored.
Our second single 'Newspeak' is a commentry on the deplorable state of Journalism in the world. The decay of an institution that is considered essential for well functioning democracies worldwide is analysed. The feelings conveyed are heavily influenced by the spectacular soothsaying of George Orwell in his masterpiece - 1984.
Our third single titled ‘Nettles’ is inspired by the 2010 Bollywood film ‘Guzaarish’. This song explores the philosophy of euthanasia as a conversation between an amputee and their family.
