Growing up in Croydon, South London, music started at 14 years old. An ACL tear during a school rugby match led to T. H. Agyei fully dedicating his time to playing and writing music. ‘Jams’ in school corridors during lunch and break led to live music and drama performances in after-school shows including the lead role in his high School production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.
In a trio called ‘Cojak’, at only 18 years old, T. H. Agyei performed at Monto Water Rats, Brixton Jamm and LeeFest (now Neverworld) sharing green rooms and backstage with the likes of The Maccabees, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Big Pink and The Holloways.
T. H. Agyei’s taste in music is inspired by the leading figure heads in post-millennium indie/alternative music (Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Kings of Leon etc). His elegant song-writing style foreshadows the conceptual penchant of Pink Floyd, whilst years playing in Church and endless nights listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers has flourished unique bass lines that are immediately recognisable.
T. H. Agyei’s aim in this endeavour is to ‘create’. Beyond singles, EPs and albums, T. H. Agyei hopes to expand the possibilities of music creativity, enhancing his own capabilities and learning the rules to bend and break them.
