Tamar Shawki is a Jewish-Lebanese Israeli singer, songwriter, and pianist whose music moves fluidly between Arabic musical traditions, world music, jazz, pop, and contemporary production. A graduate of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where she studied Middle Eastern Arabic Music, she was the first Jewish singer admitted to the department. Drawing on a background in classical piano, songwriting, and performance, Shawki has developed a distinctive artistic voice that bridges heritage and modern expression across Hebrew, Arabic, and English. Inspired by her grandparents, Amal and Salim Shawki — celebrated Arab music stars of the 1950s and 1960s — her work carries forward a rich musical legacy in a contemporary form. Her debut album, Melody of My Heart (Manginat Libi / صوت قلبي), presents original songs shaped by Middle Eastern roots, cross-cultural influences, and a refined modern sound. She has collaborated with artists including Dudu Tassa, Jonny Greenwood, Yair Dalal, and The Revolution Orchestra, and has been featured in Haaretz, KAN 11, and other leading cultural platforms.
