Tamarind Free Jones

Tamarind Free Jones grew up on a small island in Fiji called Naitauba, in the Ashram of Adi Da Samraj, where she studied Sanskrit chanting, ballet, yoga and meditation. At age 17, she left the island to study Indian Classical music with Maestro Ali Akbar Khan in Marin, California. She studied with him for 17 years becoming one of his advanced students, performing and teaching at his school, The Ali Akbar College Of Music.

She has released 5 albums that range in styles from Traditional Chants and Indian Fusion, to Singer-Songwriter and Indie Folk. Tamarind has also performed worldwide and starred in "Wired and Free" the renowned Irish traveling aerial dance show, where she sang suspended in the sky as the singing mermaid.

Nominated by Talvin Singh as "A brilliant new artist with a crossover style of Indian Classical, Folk and Pop", her music has been played on television and radio around the world. She was recently featured as a vocalist in the film "Sold".

She currently offers musical instruction through online chanting and singing classes in a course titled "Music as Prayer".
