Tank86 was an instrumental heavy band from The Netherlands. From 2004 to 2017 TANK86 created their own niche in the Stoner/Heavy scene with their unique take on instrumental riffing.
TANK86 was formed in 2004 with founding members Joost Kruiswijk, Jochum Van Weert, Jan Baanstra and Floris Lambregts. Little is known of their early days but the band released an EP in 2005: Ariba. Three years later, replacing Jan Baanstra with Rogier Berben on drums, the band released Behold. By this point the band shared the stage with many touring bands (Monster Magnet, Karma to Burn) and toured Europe with Dozer.
TANK86 began work on a debut studio album in 2010, recruiting a new guitarist in Harold Aling to replace Floris Lambregts. Rise was released via Rising Magma Records in May 2011 and gained positive critical acclaim. It features contributions by Peter van Elderen (Peter Pan Speedrock) and Tommi Holappa (Dozer, Greenleaf). TANK86 played the Roadburn Festival among other major shows and would tour Germany in 2013.
Through the summer of 2014 the band recorded their second album and started a Kickstarter to fund the production. The campaign was a success and on 30 January 2015, Obey was released. The band toured the album, sharing the stage with Weedeater, Your Highness, Toner Low and more. The band toured the UK in 2017 with Skraeckoedlan.
In November 2017 they announced their break-up with a farewell tour. The band's final show was on 15 December 2017 at Little Devil in Tilburg.
