From a young age, Tara Hack realized the power and symbolism of music. Every great social movement in history had inspirational songs and anthems connected with them. Growing up in New York, Tara witnessed older generations being transported back to their youth, recounting the stories of their childhood by specific songs that encased these moments.
Tara’s father worked as a conductor on the Long Island Rail Road, and as a teen, she would sometimes accompany him to work. They would both notice musicians busking for tips inside Penn Station. Dad suggested that Tara give it a try, a suggestion that changed the course of her professional life as a performing musician.
Busking has created tremendous opportunities for Tara; her performances at Penn Station (NYC) and Atlantic Terminal (Brooklyn) funded her recording trip to Abbey Road Studios. Tara recorded a 5 song EP, including a cover of <a href="spotify:artist:3WrFJ7ztbogyGnTHbHJFl2" data-name="The Beatles">The Beatles</a> tune "Come Together," on the 50th anniversary of their Abbey Road Album release.
While Tara was performing in England she captured the attention of Ron Altbach (<a href="spotify:artist:5FHwr1FymaS5kutIEK6e2y" data-name="King Harvest">King Harvest</a>), Phil Pickett (co-writer of Karma Chameleon and member of <a href="spotify:artist:4pE3KE9J1Z1LKzjwLtWU21" data-name="Sailor">Sailor</a>), and Benny D (producer for <a href="spotify:artist:2BWfZGPtsjRlRp7JTDqI45" data-name="Boy George">Boy George</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4RVnAU35WRWra6OZ3CbbMA" data-name="Kylie Minogue">Kylie Minogue</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2HcwFjNelS49kFbfvMxQYw" data-name="Robbie Williams">Robbie Williams</a>). They saw a lot of potential in her, and Tara spent 3 months of 2022 living in England, writing and recording new music with them. Since February 2023, Tara has been releasing music about every 6 weeks. She is scheduled to release new music well into 2024.
