Tarek MG is a cinematic modern prog metal musician and composer based in the UK. Known for heavily blending cinematic and orchestral elements with groove, modern-prog, heavy, and melodic elements in his compositions.
The modern-metal side of his work is heavily influenced by bands such as Bleed From Within, Born of Osiris, Monuments, The Black Dahlia Murder, As Blood Runs Black, Lamb of God, and Linkin Park to name a few, resulting in a unique sound characterized by groovy elements and rhythmic breakdowns.
On the cinematic, epic orchestral , and sound design side of his music, Tarek MG also draws significant inspiration from the qualities found in Japanese media, including JRPG soundtracks composers such as Yoko Shimomura (Final Fantasy), Masayoshi Soken (Final Fantasy), Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Solo Levelling), Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear), as well as various OSTs. This influence allows him to incorporate a sense of grandeur and emotional depth into his compositions, often creating a narrative of a protagonist's journey through epic and cinematic soundscapes. His goal is to enable fans to imagine their own scenes within the story of each composition.
Previously releasing music under Martyrs Alive, Tarek began this new chapter in 2020, seeking to further refine his artistic direction. His music aims to deliver an experience that feels both epic and introspective, combining modern metal with a cinematic approach to storytelling.
