Tarn PK is a Wellington, New Zealand based artist, producer, and songwriter.
Having released three EP’s - ‘Fantasy’ (2019), ‘Monarch’ (2021) and ‘Sugarcoated’ (2022) and 3 singles, most recently ‘Papier – Maché’ (2023), Tarn PK is releasing the new single ‘Cry Baby’ from his forthcoming EP.
“’Cry Baby’ came from a time of feeling like I wasn’t moving forward and thinking “what am I going to do about this? There’s no point feeling sorry for myself, I might as well just make the most of my circumstances”. A big part for me was trying to detach from my expectations and just appreciate things as they currently are.
Sonically I was inspired by the contrast of digital sounding synthesizers and live drum breaks. The moment that brought the song to life was bringing in the vibraphone, which felt like an odd but intriguing choice.”
The new EP project 'F.O.M.O' is inspired by the dreary environment and oppressive sky scrapers of urban Wellington. It’s a reflection of time living in the city and working a 9-5 desk job. This new direction is less of a drastic sonic change than between his previous Eps, but see's Tarn settling into a sound that feels like a natural progression.
