Growing up in tower blocks nestled in East London suburbs, Taryn Everdeen’s introduction to music came through her father, a songwriter and guitarist. After moving to Norfolk, Taryn came into her own at the beginning of her adolescence, penning honest and heart-felt songs which she shared online, catching the attention of Norwich Arts Centre’s artist development programme Sonic Youths and BBC Radio Norfolk.
Taryn's music uses minimal instrumentation, drawing the listener's attention to her wistful melodies and hauntingly soft vocals. She performs with a gentleness and vulnerability that mesmerises audiences, an ever-present melancholy running throughout, always punctuated with notes of hope. Pulling inspiration from the work of Kate Bush, AURORA, and Keaton Henson, listeners can hear an echo of their influences in Taryn’s lyrics, melodies, and even her way of existing on stage.
Split between the cities of Norwich and Paris, Taryn spends her time performing at open mics, organising concerts in intimate venues, and working towards her degree in photography and video at art school.
Her 4-track EP ‘see-through’ comes out on June 1st, a time capsule of a 17-year-old’s experience of first love and heartbreak. Made up of lo-fi bedroom recordings, ‘see-through’ is a celebration of the courage of vulnerability, stripping bare the pain, growth, and self-doubt that emerge through the stages of a relationship.
