Tash Hagz is the musical alter ego of Mike Shields, a Birmingham-based rocker with a psychedelic punk flair. A multi-talented musician and songwriter, he spends his free time in his home studio, creating retro-inspired tunes that will take you on a trip.
After a brief hiatus from music to pursue a conventional career, he couldn’t ignore his passion for long. He soon found himself haunted by new melodies that demanded to be heard. He gave in to their call, setting up his recording equipment and honing his production skills.
Drawing from the likes of Bob Dylan, The Beatles and the 60s psychedelic scene, Shields has written countless songs over the years.
His first two official releases, Images Of Imogen and Mankind & Destiny, received glowing praise from critics, who called them “an indie rock classic in the making” and “stunning. An absolute must-hear”, respectively.
His next single, Dependent On, showcased his knack for “efficiency in alternative rock that hasn’t seen much screen time in the past fifteen years”, according to Melody Maker.
His most recent single, The Ballad of Sanaleigh, is “a hurdy-gurdy psychedelic trip of acoustic loveliness.”
When he’s not working or making music, he is an adoptive father, a family chef and a lucid dreamer.
