Tåsi is the solo musical project of rapper Marlon Hedrick. Originally born on the island of Saipan to a filipina mother and white father, Tåsi and family immigrated to Texas in 1998, where he has remained ever since. Meaning ocean or sea in the Chamorro language, Tåsi's creative work is centered around the personal, public, and political history & memory of his and his ancestors' life stories. As one of the very few rappers to ever hail from Saipan, Tåsi seeks to write the myth of his own existence—to both ask and answer "How and why did I and all of this come to be?" His music and other artistic practices reflect this exploration.
