Taste of Pain band was one of the leading Arab Hip Hop acts between 2000-2007. It was co-founded by Ibrahem Basbus (Mc Sultan) and Ala Aldin (Aladdin) from the Arab town of Teera, Israel (one of the Palestinian townships annexed after the war in 1948). After several years of mainly live shows and underground mixtape releases with local dj’s they joined forces with producer Gidon Lev Eli (known as Dj Dao) and formed the first Arab Israeli Hip Hop collaboration. In 2003, Ala left for Hanover, Germany for medical school, but he and Ibrahim remained close friends and continued writing new songs together, In summer of 2006, they recorded their debut album, ‘Al Hijra’ (The Immigration) at Dj Dao’s ‘Triangle Productions’ studio in Tel Aviv, where several other local underground acts such as Klin, Sadyle, and Vulkan recorded their debut projects.
Two years later, after the war in Lebanon, the studio and indie label closed down and the album was never officially released. In 2024 ‘Pele Rekordz’ decided to release the album as a tribute to the unique story of this collaboration.
