Taxicab Preacher (TCP) is a soulful Americana band rolling down the road from Chapel Hill, NC. Fronted by the charismatic singer Hailey “Doc” Brighton, TCP performs regularly throughout the Piedmont at breweries, clubs and community gatherings. With Chris Zagar (guitar/vocals), Don Miller (drums/vocals), and Patrick “PV” Vernon (bass/vocals), the band delivers high-energy performances on stages both big and small.
TCP emerged in 2018 through a mystical web of creative journeys and coincidence. Doc is the daughter of a classically trained vocalist, and has been singing since her early days in Dallas. Eventually she landed in Chapel Hill, where she met PV.
PV connected with Miller in grad school, after a 10-year stint fronting his band in Los Angeles. Miller and Zagar’s musical collaborations date back decades, and cover large swaths of the east coast.
On a Sunday in North Carolina, the 4 singer-songwriters set forth on a shared journey. Taxicab Preacher was born. After years of grinding stages and writing songs together, the band went into Sonark Studios in 2024. They cut Solid Ground, a 5-song EP of original songs that capture a special time and place in their growth. They’re celebrating its release and praying, please don’t let me down.
