Teddy Kane is one of four artists discovered in the Richmond City Jail by Grammy winner Speech Thomas (of Arrested Development) in the documentary feature 16 Bars. After being blown away by the talent he found incarcerated there, he resolved to produce an album (16 Bars: Original Soundtrack) with them. Teddy has 3 songs on the Album, all recorded behind bars.
Teddy is a former gang member who made a name for himself on the streets by robbing drug dealers of their cash. When Speech arrived in Richmond, Teddy was struggling to put the pieces of his life back in place. A life of crime has left him with few marketable job skills, and a return to the easy money of his former life is never more than a phone call away. But being picked to work with Speech rekindled Teddy’s passion for music. Teddy lays down verses that speak to a life lived on a razor’s edge and his fierce desire to transcend the brutality of the gang life he has left behind.
