TEKH TOGO

A creative operates within the confines of two realms: the visual and the auditory. Great artists know how to blend these two together, but rarely do they know how to handle both of them on a personal level. Tekh Togo has done just that however. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native was quickly drawn to creative areas in his younger years, and he dabbled in drawing to start off. Eventually, music came as a natural exploration. “Ever since I was little, I have been surrounded by musical instruments, whether it be my uncle’s hand-me-down-bass, drum sets, toy pianos; you name it.” He developed his craft in these worlds side by side, progressing to film recording by his high school years and immersing himself firmly in hip- hop culture as far as his music goes.
No matter what facet of his artistry you discuss, Tekh makes his message clear as day. “I’m always telling a story, something that has some kind of a message.” His bars are intricate and his verses weave together impactful tales of his previous experiences in life while staying true to the hallmarks of the emcees of old. It still retains an air of energy, and is perfect for live performances. “I try to spark some ideas while still being entertaining.” His videography progressed as well as he began filming music videos for local underground artists and gaining a reputation for being as skilled with the camera as he was behind the mic.
