Tetra Neon are an indie rock band that came together somewhat unintentionally after a few jamming sessions in a shed, on a farm, in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland.
Formed in 2001 by school friends Andrew Cranley (vocals, bass), Patrick MacMahon (drums) and Niall Fitzpatrick (guitar), the band quickly started writing and performing their own blend of rock and metal, with a clear nod to their heroes <a href="spotify:artist:3jOstUTkEu2JkjvRdBA5Gu" data-name="Weezer">Weezer</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6zvul52xwTWzilBZl6BUbT" data-name="Pixies">Pixies</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2ye2Wgw4gimLv2eAKyk1NB" data-name="Metallica">Metallica</a>.
Following the addition of another school friend, Peter Boyle (guitar), in 2003, the band recorded a string of EPs and performed at various venues across Ireland.
Earlier EPs, 'People get hurt that way' (2003) and 'Psycho-Ceramic' (2004), channelled the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:2evydP72Z45DouM4uMGsIE" data-name="Ash">Ash</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7AQzXO3NPNQsI7oNu5rC3r" data-name="Marcy Playground">Marcy Playground</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3inCNiUr4R6XQ3W43s9Aqi" data-name="Pavement">Pavement</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3MM8mtgFzaEJsqbjZBSsHJ" data-name="Bloc Party">Bloc Party</a>.
In 2006, their follow-up self-titled EP saw the band take a more alternative approach, with the sounds of <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb" data-name="Radiohead">Radiohead</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:00sazWvoTLOqg5MFwC68Um" data-name="Yann Tiersen">Yann Tiersen</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7lOJ7WXyopaxri0dbOiZkd" data-name="Broken Social Scene">Broken Social Scene</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2QoU3awHVdcHS8LrZEKvSM" data-name="Wilco">Wilco</a> resonating throughout.
Sadly the band split up in 2008 due to work commitments, but, following a lengthy hiatus, Andrew, Patrick and Peter decided to re-boot the Tetra Neon moniker and re-formed as a three-piece in 2018.
Their latest EP, "I can't forget the things I can't remember", was released in March 2021.
