Tex

Originally from Malmö but now based in Copenhagen, Tex Weerasinghe is a versatile polymath, producer, and singer-songwriter. It was during his time in London that Tex honed his distinctive sound, experimenting with non-linear arrangements and spatial elements. While residing in a warehouse in Hackney Wick, he forged a creative partnership with musician Cajm, formerly associated with the Young-aligned collective TTY. Together, they released the impressive split EP "5from3" in 2020. Tex's debut self-titled EP, accompanied by the video for ‘Sound of You,’ emerged in early summer 2022, which garnered early acclaim from publications such as NME, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, DIY, Wonderland, and many more. Impressively adding to his accolades, Tex's single 'Sound of You' recently amassed over 1 million streams.

Tex’s forthcoming EP, ‘Identity Crisis,’ released 24th July embodies a dichotomy of creative environments. Half of its composition was birthed amidst the communal energy of a warehouse in Hackney Wick, where Tex shared space with fifteen other artists. The remaining half found its genesis in his current home base of Copenhagen. However, it's not just physical locations that inform the sonic landscape of this release; Tex draws profound inspiration from the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan poetry and literature, a heritage unearthed during a transformative journey to visit his grandfather’s family.
