United States based artist The 808 is best known for his energetic and playful “Pop with a Rock and Roll Heartbeat” musical style. Ryan James (The 808), is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer with an obsession of blending whimsical pop elements with a rock like attitude.
Since 2007, Ryan James has been touring worldwide as a supporting instrumentalist and producer. Most notably, performing internationally in such countries as Peru, Canada, and the Dominican Republic, working as a tour assistant for a Grammy-nominated rock band on multiple national headlining engagements, and performing as a featured independent artist 3 years in a row at one of Disney’s premier music festivals at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
In 2010, Ryan was welcomed into the TV/Film industry as a supporting actor on projects such as, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, ToothFairy 2, The Ultimate Life, Hallmarks: A Way Back Home, Cinemax's: Banshee, and more.
In 2014, Ryan released his first solo recording under the artist persona The 808. Since The 808’s first solo release, he has produced multiple records and singles.
As of 2023, The 808's music has been used frequently on NBC, CBS, FOX, Amazon Prime Video, The TODAY Show, NFL, NCAA, NASCAR, NBA, MLB, RTL Television (Europe), Pawn Stars (European Broadcasts), and more. In early 2024, The 808 was selected as Charlotte, North Carolina's local music artist of the year (2024 BOB Award recipient) as published by Charlotte Magazine.
