Luc Poublon, better known by his stage name The Act, has been a prominent figure in the dance music scene since 1992. He first gained recognition by winning a producers’ contest hosted by the then-popular Dutch magazine Disco Dance. His debut release, titled “My Dick”, was recorded in Italy following his victory—a bold, tongue-in-cheek entry that quickly put him on the map.

The Act’s international breakthrough came in 1999, when he dropped the trance classic “Something About U”. The track was remixed by DJ Garry, and this version became iconic. It became a staple in the sets of top-tier DJs such as Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, and Pete Tong. It remains a beloved trance anthem.

While “Something About U” remains The Act’s most celebrated song, Luc Poublon continued producing and releasing. The Act recently released “Beautiful Child”, this time with a more polished, commercially appealing twist. “Beautiful Child” captures his signature melodic sensibility while offering broader dancefloor accessibility.
